The origins of the Community Development Association are in the 1970's and although the Association has changed names from time to time, it has an unbroken 40 year record of community activity.

MICDA Working Groups

The association works with a small executive, and then with working groups. The heads of the working groups then form part of the management committee.

• Island infrastructure consultation with the Townsville City Council, Sunferries, Townsville Enterprise Limited, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and associated local government and state bodies.

• Magnetic Island Markets which occur the second Saturday and the last Sunday of each month on the Horseshoe Bay foreshore.

• Representation on the Townsville Port Authority Consultative Committee
Alison Hope is the MICDA representative on the committee which enables a vital link with major developments, planning and strategic implementation.

Bay Days Festival (Sept-Oct)

The Magnetic Island Bay Days festival is a fantastic month of live music, art exhibitions, mega markets, night markets, movies under the stars, dinner on Picnic Bay jetty, talks, walks, theatre, workshops - you name it, Bay Days Festival has something for everyone!
