“We have over 30 car and motor bike entries with more coming in daily. The oldest vehicle we have is from our own Don and Fran Lowe's 1938 De Soto - a magnificent 'Elliott Ness' car. From the island there will also be three Corvettes, a Mustang, a Porsche, a vintage jeep and we have just received entries four for vintage MG's from the Marque Motor Club in Townsville - all manufactured before 1950.”, said Sue Mackay, one of the volunteer MI Festival coordinators.
“Townsville Custom Cycles are coming with an impressive collection of bikes and there will be a static air brush display is by award-winning airbrush artist, Yipo, who doesn’t just paint cars and bikes, but all sorts of things like furniture, letterboxes, even toilet seats. It’s top quality artwork!”
“We have lots of market and food stalls already registered, and the Magnetic Island Fauna Care Organistaion (MIFCO) have been invited to have a road kill awareness display”.
“We have organised a Road Crash Rescue 'extraction' display from our local volunteer Fire Service (who have done so well at regional competitions over the years), complete with the Fire Engine on display. Mick Tamlyn. The Firies display will be on between 11.00am – 1noon.”
“Townsville band Alien8 is scheduled to appear between 1- 5 pm.” “Fantasea Cruising Magnetic has offered resident's rates for off-island participants, but entry registrations are required before booking.”
“It’s designed to be a fun day and not competitive, but we will have a ‘Peoples Choice Award’ (Car and Bike) and ‘Best In Show’ Award – (Car and Bike).”, said Sue.
