Some information on the soloist:
Edwina is a scholarship holder at the Australian National Academy of Music, studying with William Hennessey. Her musical education began in the regional town of Bundaberg, commencing violin lessons at age 4. She later played with the Queensland Youth Symphony, eventually as Assistant Concertmaster.
She completed an Arts Degree at the University of Queensland before realising her passion for music. She studied at the Queensland Conservatorium with Michelle Walsh, graduating with a Masters of Music Studies. During this time, her string quartet, Euphoria, won the Gertrude Langer Ensemble Prize, was selected
as the Australian Youth Orchestra’s Young Australian Concert Artists, and toured regional Queensland with didgeridoo player William Barton for the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. They were featured on ABC Classic FM’s ‘Rising Stars’ Program.
After moving to Melbourne, she studied with Mark Mogilevski at the University of Melbourne, earning a Master of Music.
Recent performances include John Adams’ ‘Gnarly Buttons’ un-conducted, with soloist Michael Collins. She recently made her live radio debut on 3MBS ‘Live at the Convent’, playing Schnittke’s Violin Sonata No. 1 with pianist Stewart Kelly.
Edwina is a casual member of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Victoria.
