Are you up for a dirty weekend? 5 events, 2 days and 1 tropical island! Paddle, mountain bike and trail run this awesome multi-sport festival on Magnetic Island from 31 March to 1 April. Events include 'Ultra Adventurethon', 'Enduro Adventurethon', 'Dirty Endurance Duathon', 'Taste of Adventurethon' and 'Junior Adventurethon'. It's going to be BIG so check out the details today! Where's the best place to see the action?
If you'd like to check out any of the action at any of the checkpoints or along the routes see the race map for more information:
Saturday 31st March
• The Ultra Race starts at 7am sharp at Picnic Bay, with the elite racers heading to Radical Bay in kayaks.
• Enduro Race (a mixture of Elite and Not-So-Elite) starts at 9am in Picnic Bay.
• Checkpoint C (the water tank on the pipeline track, at the top end of Mandalay Avenue in Nelly Bay) should see some action from around 10:15am.
• Duathlon start (10am running towards the Mandalay trails down past Base Backpackers, on the beach then into Mandalay Ave)
• First finishers 12:30pm-ish and Last finisher 6pm cut off
• The Winners Presentations will be held in the Mall in front of the Picnic Bay Hotel at 6pm on Saturday night, where meals are available and the Matt Whitton Trio will be performing from 6pm.
Sunday 1st April
09:30am Race Start Picnic BaySunday 1st April
Sunday features the smaller races of Junior and Taste Of Adventure which will be between 1hr and 2hrs maximum. It's fast paced, close and exciting action in the paddle (within Picnic Bay)
Presentations are at 12pm
Most interstate and regional travellers are attending the larger events on Saturday with Townsville locals or travellers family members doing the Taste Of Adventure and Junior on Sunday.
Based around the Picnic Bay Hotel, you can see the Adventurethon action with:
• Friday Night - Carb It Up!
• Saturday & Sunday Morning - Coffees & Breaky
• Saturday Night - The Matt Whitton Trio & the Adventurethon Presentations
