• ANZAC Day Dawn Service:
Date: Mon April 25 - 2022
Time: 4:40 am
Location: Magnetic Island RSL Hall - Arcadia
Island veterans, residents and visitors are invited to attend Magnetic Island’s ANZAC Day Commemoration Service on Monday 25th April2022 at the Cenotaph at Alma Bay.
GUNFIRE BREAKFAST 4.40am: Marchers are invited to assemble at the Memorial Hall, 31 Hayles Avenue, Arcadia, from 4.40am for a Gunfire Breakfast of rum and milk, traditionally served to WWI soldiers at first light before battle to alleviate their nerves.
MARCH 5.10am: Our marchers will assemble at 5.10am and step off at 5.20am. The service at Alma Bay will commence at 6am.
Sunbus will provide bus services to the RSL (on main roads only) departing Picnic Bay and Horseshoe Bay at 4.45am.
The public are invited to gather at Alma Bay Park before 6am, on the southern (Geoffrey Bay) side of the Cenotaph. Please leave room on the other sides for the march and the official party.
During the service, No 35 Water Transport Squadron will conduct a blank firing from their craft in Alma Bay, in recognition of the Gallipoli Landing.
At the conclusion of the Commemoration Service, all are invited to return to the Memorial Hall for breakfast, music and mateship. We look forward to having you join us on this most important day for the veterans of our nation.
