You're invited to a Free Kitchen Garden Training Day at Magnetic Island State School. Get involved with the school’s edible garden and learn some new skills at the same time at an exclusive FREE Training Day, run by the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation.
The foundation, set up by the celebrated cook Stephanie Alexander, promotes healthy eating from the ground up, and teaches ‘hands-on’ gardening, cooking (and eating!) experiences that can be used as part of the curriculum and to educate kids about healthy eating.
The foundation is running a training day at MISS’ edible garden on Thursday, 19 January 2017, before school heads back. Hands-on activities on the day include how to make a rain gauge, propagate plants and build a decorative tepee frame. Refreshments are free, as is lunch, which participants will cook up during the kitchen session using local produce*.
Venue: Magnetic Island State School’s Edible Garden
Date: Thursday, 19 January 2017
Time: 7.45am-2.20pm (Teacher-specific content from noon-2.20pm)
