Sunday 8 June from 10am until late, Magnetic Island celebrates World Oceans Day. It will be a fun, family friendly day with kids games, beach BBQ, an overhead photo opportunity, face painting, ocean art, talks, beach clean ups and a live performance by the Sara Shaw Band at 4.30pm
This world wide project connects 85 countries who are focussed on protecting, as well as celebrating about our world's oceans. In 2009 Magnetic Island was the first location in Australia celebrate World Oceans Day.
The day will include:
9.30am - 10am: Nelly Bay beach clean up. Bring a garbage bag and start from the marina then head towards Base Backpackers.
10am: Information stalls open.
10.30am - 12noon: Family fun on the beach with games and activities.
12noon: Fancy dress parade on the beach.
12.30 - 1.30pm: Beach BBQ only $5!
1pm - 3pm: Marine talks by experts and short videos about the ocean plus artwork exhibition.
3.30pm: Laughing yoga on the beach.
4.30pm: Sara Shaw Band LIVEIf you love the ocean, come and join in and support World Ocean's Day 2014 on Magnetic Island.
